Leila is a proud graduate from Penn State University and is thrilled to be on the WDBJ7 team! Born in New York City, and raised in Philadelphia, she’s enjoyed exploring her new home in Roanoke.
Leila started reporting in 2021 at ABC 17 News in Columbia, Missouri. During her close to two years at KMIZ, Leila focused on the pandemic, city government, and court and crime reporting, including witnessing and reporting on the October 2021 execution of Ernest Lee Johnson in Bonne Terre Missouri.
When she’s not at work, Leila loves to travel, eat, and meet new people. Leila will focus on covering the Lynchburg area, and encourages anyone interested to reach out with any information or story ideas. She's on FB and Instagram (Leilamitchelltv).
