BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) - For the first time ever, West Virginia Men’s Basketball has won in Allen Fieldhouse.

The Mountaineers defeated the number 7 ranked Kansas Jayhawks 62-61 in Kansas.

According to stats from ESPN, West Virginia shot just over 40% from the field, and 30% from 3-Point Land.

The Mountaineers jumped out to a 33-20 lead at halftime, which helped stave off a 41-point second half from the Jayhawks.

West Virginia (10-2) has won 6 in a row, and takes on Oklahoma State on January 4.

Kansas (9-3) will face UCF on January 5.

West Virginia is tied for first in the Big 12 Conference standings with Iowa State.
