February Teacher Feature Winner: Les Farmer
PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVVA) - It’s time to announce the WVVA and Cole Chevy’s winner for our Teacher Feature contest.
This month’s winner is a teacher at the Mercer County Vocational and Technical center in Princeton.
Les Farmer teaches a class for aspiring teachers called grow your own.
The grow your own program was developed by the state, to give students interested in education as a profession a leg up.
Farmer has been teaching for eleven years with the last three at the vo-tech center in Princeton.
Farmer tells us that the important thing is to make school enjoyable for the students.
“You can build a relationship with your students you’re going to get enough out of them and stuff like that to see them be successful and if you show you care about the students there are able to want to do more work for you and be able to come to school and make it enjoyable.”
Les farmer is a graduate of Pikeview High School and Bluefield State College.
He taught at Pikeview Middle School for eight years before coming to Mercer County Vo-tech.
