WVU offers support group for families of children on waitlist for autism services

MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) - The West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities launched a new support group recently for families who have a child on a wait list for autism evaluations or services.
The Mind the Gap: Parent Education and Support Group offers guidance and support for those families who are waiting for services. Organizers also said parents who are concerned their child is showing signs of autism spectrum disorder are welcome to join the group and learn more, as well.
Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the WVU CED second-floor conference room in Morgantown beginning in August. Virtual attendance is also an option, organizers said.
The support group meetings are free to attend, but registration is required. A Zoom link is provided through registration, as well.
