Bluefield University names new Vice President for Enrollment Management & Marketing

BLUEFIELD, VA (WVVA) - Bluefield University is welcoming a new Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing.

Travis Roberts is assuming the duties and operations aforementioned.

Under the role, Roberts manages “recruitment initiatives and student outreach programs. He will focus on attracting a diverse, mission-driven student population that aligns with Bluefield’s values and long-standing traditions."

Bluefield University is welcoming a new Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing.

“Bluefield University shaped who I am today,” said Roberts. “To be able to come back and serve in this capacity is an honor. I’m excited to work with the talented team here and continue the legacy of providing a transformative educational experience for students.”

Bluefield University president Dr. Steve Peterson echoing that sentiment:

“We are thrilled to welcome Travis back to Bluefield University. His passion for this community and expertise will guide our recruitment strategies. Travis is a leader who understands Bluefield’s culture and is committed to advancing our mission.”

Roberts graduated from the university then, Bluefield College in 2001.

Obtaining a degree in communications, he would use this degree in a variety of fields, even as meteorologist at WVVA from 2012 until 2019.

Prior to serving in this role at BU, he also held the Director of Marketing position at Southwest Virginia Community College from 2019 until 2024.

In addition to working in the Two Virginias, Roberts is a lifelong resident of Tazewell County, graduating from Tazewell High School, marrying his college sweetheart and raising his children in our community.
